Also known as the Spelling Manor, this mansion is the largest home in the Los Angeles County. Heiress Petra Stunt bought this property for $85 million after it had been on the market for two years with a price tag of $150 million.

18) Promised Land – $88 Million (2012 market value)

Oprah Winfrey, “The Queen of all Media”, bought this 23,000 square foot property in 2001 for around $52 million. She named the Georgian-style mansion “The Promised Land” in memory of Martin Luther King Jr. This beautiful mansion sits on around 40 acres. It market value in 2012 was $88 million.

17) The Carolwood Estate – $90 Million

This $90 million property encompasses four acres in the Holmby Hills neighborhood. It includes a 35,000 square foot mansion. The property once belonged to Walt Disney, earning it the nickname, the Disney estate.

Indian steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal bought Kensington Palace Gardens from English business magnate Bernie Ecclestone in 2004 for £67 million. Mittal renovated the mansion with marble that was sourced from the same quarry as the Taj Mahal. He calls his home the “Taj Mittal”.

The Maison de l’Amitie is a sprawling oceanfront 60,000 square foot property. Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev bought this property from Donald Trump for $95 million. It includes gold and diamond fixtures and a 50 car garage.

14) Silicon Valley Mansion – $100 Million (2011)

Russian billionaire Yuri Milner purchased this Silicon Valley Mansion in 2011. The property spans three plots totaling seven hectares. It includes a 25,500 square foot main house and a 5,500 square foot guest house. The property is valued at $100 million and its tax bill is about $304,000 a year.

13) Fleur de Lys – $102 Million (2014)

Located on five acres of land in Holmby Hills, Fleur de Lys is a 45,000 square foot property. It has 12 bedrooms, 15 baths, a 50-seat theater, a gym, a ballroom, a pool house, a tennis court, a running track and a guest house.

12) Mountain Home Road, Woodside, CA – $117.5 Million (2012)

The sale of the Mountain Home Road in 2012 for $117.5 million was a US record for a single-family home at that time. The Woodside, California property includes a 9,000 square foot neoclassical building, a pool house, a detached library, a swimming pool, a retreat building, a tennis court and gardens.

11) Xanadu 2.0 – $125.5 Million

It took nearly seven years for Bill Gates to custom-build the 66,000 square foot Xanadu 2.0, a modern-yet-rustic high-tech estate valued at $125.5 million. Gates had bought the property in 1998 for $14 million.

10) Hala Ranch – $135 Million

Located just north of Aspen, Colorado, the Hala Ranch is a 95-acre estate that was listed at $135 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, hedge fund mogul John Paulson bought the ranch for $49 million. The home covers a 56,000 square foot area.

9) Beverly House – $135 Million (2014)

Beverly House, which is located three blocks from Sunset Boulevard, was valued at $135 million in 2014. It is on six flat acres of land and includes Italian and Spanish style H-shaped main house and a slew of smaller homes.

This Californian style mansion has 103 rooms. In 2005 it was the most expensive private home on the market anywhere in the world, having been listed for sale for in excess of $138 million.

7) Le Palais Royal – $139 Million

Le Palais Royal is a 60,500 square foot mansion located in Florida. It has 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms. The mansion includes a $2 million marble staircase and a gate decorated with 22K gold leaf.

6) The Pinnacle Montana – $155 Million

The ultra luxury mega mansion The Pinnacle Montana is one-of-a-kind. It includes 160 acres of land and 53,000 square foot home, home theater, three elevators, a bowling alley, a private-covered gondola from ski run to the home and many more luxuries.

5) Palazzo di Amore – $195 Million

In 2014, real estate tycoon Jeff Greene listed his 25-acre estate Beverly Hills for a staggering $195 million. At that time it was the most expensive listing in the US. This Mediterranean-style villa has a ballroom with a revolving dance floor, 13 bedrooms, 23 bathrooms, a bowling alley, a theater, tennis courts and other luxuries.

4) Fairfield Pond Estate – $249 Million

Owned by billionaire Ira Rennert, the $249 million Fairfield Pond is a 63-acre oceanfront compound. The 110,000 square foot home has 29 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, a power plant, three swimming pools and much more.

3) Park Place Estate – $218 Million

In August 2012, Russian businessman and banker Andrei Borodin bought Park Palace Estate in Berkshire for £140m ($218 million). Set in large grounds above the River Thames, the Park Palace is a historic Grade II listed country house and gardens. It boasts a helipad, spa complex, home cinema and high-tech security system.

2) Weber Mansion (Casa Encantada) – $225 Million (2013)

Formally Casa Encantada, Gary Winnick floated his estate in Bel-Air for sale at $225 million in 2013. This 8.4 acre property has seven bedrooms and 20 bathrooms. Winnick had bought the property from Dole Food co-owner David Murdoch in 2000 by paying $94 million.

1) Villa Leopolda – $530 million (in 2008)

This large detached villa is located on the French Rivera. It was valued at $530 million in 2008 when Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov attempted to buy it. The deal did not go through and Prokhorov had to forfeit a €39 million deposit. As per the deal the amount was €370 million plus €19.5 million for the villa’s contents.
