Adamawa APC governorship candidate, Aisha “Binani” Dahiru, has withdrawn her lawsuit against the incumbent Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, in the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The suit was dismissed by Justice Inyang Ekwo on Wednesday, following a notice of discontinuance filed by Binani’s lawyer.
Binani had previously sought to file an ex parte application to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from invalidating her declaration as the winner of the governorship election by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari.
However, Justice Ekwo temporarily refused to entertain the application.
The Adamawa governorship supplementary election was conducted on April 15, following the declaration of the March 18 poll as inconclusive due to alleged irregularities.
The Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) subsequently declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the governorship election in Adamawa State after a supplementary election.
Mr Fintiri won the supplementary election with 9,337 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Aisha Dahiru, popularly called Binani, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came second in the poll with 6,513 votes.
