The highly anticipated Met Gala made its grand return on the evening of May 1st, 2023, and it did not disappoint! The event, which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute in New York City, saw some of the biggest names and forces from various industries in attendance, including fashion, entertainment, movies, modeling, and more.
The Met Gala, also known as the Costume Institute Gala, is an annual fundraising gala held for the benefit of the Museum of Arts. Only the top power players in all industries are invited to this prestigious event, which is widely considered to be fashion’s big night out.
This year’s Met Gala was themed “In honor of Karl” in tribute to the late fashion icon and Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld. As expected, top celebrities graced the red carpet with their endearing looks. From Rihanna and her lover, ASAP Rocky, to Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Naomi Campbell, Cardi B, and more, everyone brought their A-game.
Nigerian musicians, Burna Boy and Tems, made their first debut at the Met Gala and made their country proud. The Afrobeats stars stunned on the red carpet with their enchanting outfits. Burna Boy donned a matching black and blue slightly checkered outfit with a generous cape-like extension of the same material flowing behind him.
Meanwhile, Tems looked regal in a Custom Rober Wun dress, featuring a black corset-like top and a flowing white skirt that finished at the bottom with elbow-length gloves.
Tems was styled by Dunsun Wright, and unlike her outfit at the Oscars, her dress did not block anyone’s view. The two musicians looked absolutely stunning, and their appearance at the Met Gala is sure to cement their place as rising stars in the international fashion and entertainment scenes.
