In an official announcement on Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) unveiled Senator Dino Melaye as its governorship candidate for the upcoming November 11th gubernatorial election in Kogi State. The ceremony was attended by key party stakeholders in the state.
During his speech, Senator Melaye expressed his gratitude to the PDP family in Kogi State and apologized for any wrongdoings he may have committed. He assured party members that they will see a change in leadership once the PDP is in power, promising to establish peace and stability in the state.
“Dino Melaye will not be a Christian or a Muslim Governor but a governor with the fear of God. If you have the fear of God, you won’t pay percentage salaries. If you have the fear of God, there will be peace and stability in the state,” he stated.
Senator Melaye also promised to return power back to the Eastern Senatorial Districts after eight years in office.
The State Chairman of the PDP, Sam Uhuotu, appealed to Kogi State residents to vote for his party during the election, while former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Tunde Ogbeha, called on aggrieved party members to put their differences aside and work towards the party’s victory.
Former Kogi State Governor, Ibrahim Idris, also spoke at the ceremony and urged party stakeholders to unite against any forces that may try to stop their victory at the polls.
