Nigerian media personality, Yeni Kuti, has stated that her husband cheating on her would not be sufficient reason for her to end her marriage.
The sixty-year-old explained that her late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, had twenty-seven wives, yet her mother remained committed to their marriage.
She expressed this viewpoint during a conversation with renowned media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
Yeni firmly stated that she would not abandon her marriage for another woman. She emphasized, “I won’t leave my husband if he is cheating. That is me. You can leave your own husband if he is cheating. That is you. Don’t judge me, I’m not judging you.”
Drawing from her family’s experience, Yeni highlighted that her father’s numerous wives did not lead her mother to leave. She questioned why she would be expected to leave her marriage because of one woman. She firmly asserted, “It cannot happen.”
In 1986, Yeni left her career as a fashion designer and joined Femi’s band as a vocalist and dancer. Presently, she and her brother, Femi Kuti, jointly manage the New Afrika Shrine.
