Two individuals in Nasarawa State were arrested by the Police Command for allegedly confining and causing the death of their 35-year-old cousin, Mohammed Sani, on suspicion of witchcraft.
CP Shettima Muhammad, the Acting Commissioner of Police, disclosed this during a press briefing in Lafia on December 4, 2023.
The suspects, paraded alongside 16 others, were accused of tying and starving Sani, leading to his demise.
The police received information on November 30 about Sani being confined, his hands and legs bound, and ultimately dying from starvation due to witchcraft accusations.
The CP mentioned that the family hastily buried Sani to evade suspicion. The arrested suspects denied direct involvement, asserting they discovered Sani’s decomposing body in his room and only took part in the burial.
