Popular Nollywood actress, Shaffy Bello, has revealed her standard answer to daring younger people who call her by her first name.
She made this disclosure on a podcast episode where media personality, Stephanie Coker complained about younger people calling her by her name, saying it’s disrespectful and unpleasant.
The 53-year-old actress was asked if she had also felt and experienced the same thing.
In response, Shaffy Bello said that she is usually quick to reprimand younger people when they do that.
She acknowledged that it might be as a result of their upbringing or even differences in tribes, but she always makes sure to correct them with love.
She also added that aside from younger people addressing her by her first name, she can’t stand them waving at her in the form of a greeting.
She said:
“Usually my response is very simple and I say it with love.
I call them and pull them closer and say, you haven’t earned the right to call me by name.
I have a child as old as you are and even if I don’t have children, you haven’t earned the right and you will never earn that right at your age to call me by name.”
