Strict rules may have been set because of dictatorship, but that doesn’t stop the people from having a good time.
There are so many little facts about this country that make it stand out from the rest, but probably the craziest are those that seem devastating to people who are used to having an established norm in their country. For example, Russia is extremely strict when it comes to being openly homosexual, while the United States is highly tolerant. But Russia has been strict on these types of things for a very long time, making it possible for certain facts to come to the surface. Here are fifteen of the most devastating facts about Russia that you probably were unaware of.
15. Extreme Alcohol Consumption
There is a standard for the consumption of alcohol as well as a level that is considered safe. Every year, each Russian consumes about 4.8 gallons of alcohol. That is double what many experts consider to be dangerous. While this little fact is certainly concerning, it should not come as a surprise to anyone. We all know that vodka is something Russians love very much, and with all of the stories we hear about Russia, vodka is almost always involved. Even Russia’s drinking age is lower than that of the United States, making alcohol even more accessible. And if you’ve never tried it, American vodka is awful, but true Russian vodka tastes like sweet water. If you love to drink, Russia is definitely the place to be. Just be sure to factor in that the rules over there are very strict and it might not be as easy to get away with certain things like you can in the United States.
