The bonkers order is all down to Apple’s iCloud service.The Russian government wants users data to only be stored in the
country, but Apple and many other tech firms servers are based in other parts of the world.
This means Russian iPhone users could soon be breaking the law by using the iPhone and it’s cloud based storage service.
A solution to the problem would be for Apple to build iCloud servers in the country, but this currently seems unlikely. And companies such as Facebook and Twitter may also see the ban affecting their online services.
This isn’t the only controversial issue Apple has faced this week in Russia.
