6. Regina King
It all started in 1985 when she played Brenda Jenkins on the NBC sitcom “227.” But we know her from films like “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous,” “Poetic Justice,” “Friday,” “Enemy of the State,” “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde,” and her supporting role in the feature film “Jerry Maguire.” She’s made her way back to television with a recurring role on “Big Bang Theory,” voicing characters Huey and Riley Freeman on the animated series “Boondock Saints,” and as Detective Lydia Adams on TNT’s popular “Southland.” Her role on “Southland” earned her two nominations for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
