Professions that make you thankful for your day job: Your day job may be dull and stressful. Your boss may be a pain, and you may be overworked. Whether it is looking up chicken’s butts, raising parasites, examining rotting flesh or smelling armpits, all of these jobs are pretty disgusting. If you want to prove that you answer the call of duty when nature calls, these may be great resumé builders. If not, you may want to look elsewhere.

10. Whale Snot Collector

A marine biologist by the name Karina Acevedo-Whitehouse collects whale snot (from blue and grey whales) as part of her job. Claiming the job to be quite dangerous, Karina flies a remote-controlled helicopter to catch whale snot as it sprays out of its blowhole. The point of collecting the mucus is to analyse it for viruses and bacteria, keeping track of what dangers might be lurking in the ocean.
