7) Kaka
AC Milan to Real Madrid – €65-million (2009)
Following the return of Florentino Perez to the Real Madrid presidency, he set about building a new team of Galacticos. The first of these was to be Kaka who signed a six-year contract at Real Madrid on the 9th June 2009, although his transfer was eclipsed two days later by the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. Kaka’s signing still captured the imagination of the Real Madrid fans as it had won FIFA World Player of the Year just two years previously. Ultimately, Kaka’s time at Real Madrid would prove to be a disappointment as he struggled with both injuries and form. His standing at the club would full to the extent Real Madrid allowed him to re-join AC Milan for a free transfer with two-years of his contract left to run.
