6. Playa Zipolite – Mexico
Mexico is home to some pretty incredible beaches including Cancun Beach, which is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. However, Mexico also houses Playa Zipolite which apparently means “beach of the dead”, one of the most dangerous beaches on the planet. Playa Zipolite is a perfect example of how looks can be deceiving. From the shore, it looks like a stunning body of water, but the waves are so big and powerful it results in extremely dangerous undercurrents. There was so many deaths at this beach that a special team of lifeguards have been trained and stationed there to protect swimmers. Thankfully the fatality rate has gone down since then.
