6. Paul Terry – Cheating Leads To Friend’s Suicide

John Terry’s brother, Paul, is also a soccer player and he, too, is a big cheater. While playing for Rushden and Diamonds, Terry briefly lived with teammate Dale Roberts. Roberts was engaged to Lindsey Cowan. During the course of staying with the couple, Terry thought he’d make himself at home and began to carry on an affair with Cowan. Roberts, who was depressed and recovering from an injury, couldn’t believe the news when he heard it. Combined with the anti-depressants he was taking, the news proved to be too much for him. Roberts committed suicide over the shame of having to face the affair of his fiancé sleeping with his friend and teammate. This tragic tale has no happy ending.
