Born in Eritrea, Ella Thomas is the daughter of an Eritrean woman and a U.S. Air Force Officer. She spent her youth traveling back and forth between her home and Germany, but eventually civil war forced her family to seek safety elsewhere, so they moved to Kindsbach, where Ella was educated. This resulted in Ella learning not only German, but English, French, and Tigrinya (her mother’s native language.) It soon became apparent that Ella had a love for the arts, especially theater. During her teen years, the family moved to the United States, and it was there that Ella was found by a modeling scout. After high school, she pursued modeling full time, and spent the majority of the beginning of her career in New York and Paris.
