Most controversial Nigerian celebrities - 2016 has been an amazing year and filled with controversies that has made the headlines this year. The year kicked off in a remarkable way with one of the biggest beef stories of 2016 happening on the first day of the year at the Headies Award between Olamide and Don Jazzy. Kemi Olunloyo Daughter of Former Oyo State Governor, is Nigeria’s single most controversial woman and not even a Tonto Dikeh at her peak could compete with the self-claimed blogger. This year alone saw Olunloyo in the limelight more times than normal. From calling Jide Kosoko a ritualist who killed his wife, Henrietta Kosoko, to fat shaming Eniola Badmus and trolling Dayo Amusa, Olunloyo was a hit in the controversial department this year. 10. OAP Freeze OAP Freeze is a controversial figure and was in the news for several controversial reasons this year. He was rumoured to have been sacked by the management of Cool FM following his public feud with Basketmouth which he tagged malicious. The media personality has since been hogging the headlines with his unfiltered comments on politics, religion, love and marriage. He also owns a blog where he posts his opinions on the burning topic of the day and is commonly known as a social critic. 9. Don Jazzy Don Jazzy was in the middle of controversy at the beginning of 2016 when he called out Olamide at the Headies. A beef that was labelled the biggest beef of 2016. Olamide and Don Jazzy have since settled their beef. 8. Olamide Olamide is definitely one rapper and label boss that doesn’t involve in controversies but made an exception this year when his protege, Lil Kesh was denied the ‘Next Rated’ award at the Headies and was given to Reekado Banks. Olamide called out the organizers at the event and afterwards Don Jazzy fired back at him. Olamide went out on social media and lashed out Don Jazzy thoroughly which became the biggest beef of 2016. The issue was later settled by Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote. 7. Oritsefemi Nigerian singer, Oritsefemi did have an amazing year as he had lovely singles. The singer a few weeks ago was beaten to pulp at popular Lagos club, Quilox. The singer initially threw tantrums at the club owner, Shina Peller, but later apologised on social media. 6. Wizkid Wizkid is definitely the man of the year as he’s had the most impressive 2016. Wizkid has had a great 2016 but he had a number of controversies that we can’t forget in a hurry. One of which was with blogger, Linda Ikeji. Linda posted a story about Wizkid and the singer didn’t find it funny, and went out all to insult her and that landed him in Police trouble. They settled the matter amicably afterwards after he threatened her. Wizkid also allegedly fathered a second son, Ayo Jnr with Binta Diallo, a Guinean lady who lives in the U.S. Wizkid has neither accepted or denied fathering the boy. 5. Davido Nigerian singer, Davido is definitely one of the controversial singers in Nigeria and he trended on social media for a number of controversial reasons. Davido kicked off the year with a bitter spat with his babymama’s uncle, Dele Momodu. Dele Momodu allegedly blocked Davido from taking his daughter on a trip sometime last year and the singer wasn’t happy and took to social media to fire at him. Davido went as far as calling Dele Momodu his boy. Davido also went ahead to call him out on Humblesmith’s ‘Osinachi’ track remix. Davido was also in the news when Dance Queen, Kaffy fired at him heavily and called him a ‘motherf***ker’. 4. Emeka Ike Nigerian actor, Emeka Ike was in the news for a number of controversial reasons. The actor’s marital issues continued this year when his wife alleged that she was maltreated. The actor also made a move to block his wife’s divorce move in court. He charged the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to court, dragged Ibinabo Fiberesima on social media as well. 3. Toke Makinwa Nigerian media personality and Vlogger, Toke Makinwa had a somewhat dramatic 2016 as she was also in the news for the wrong reasons when she was fired by her vlog viewers who didn’t agree with some of the advises she dished out. First, it started with her misconstrued advice to single young ladies, then her releasing a tell-all book, “On Becoming”, where she talks about getting a sexually transmitted disease from her husband, her husband’s mistress and her failed marriage. Her biggest controversial moment came when she opened up to bleaching her skin after denying it in the past severally. She also launched a book when she made several shocking revelations. She got chastised when she revealed she bleached her skin because her ex-hubby, Maje Ayida was into fair women. 2. Linda Ikeji Linda Ikeji is Nigeria’s richest blogger and controversial as well. 2016 saw Linda Ikeji have a few controversies including when she posted a photo of an Hermes bag via her Instagram page. Some fans alleged that the bag was fake and called her out. Linda Ikeji tried too hard to prove to her fans that they weren’t, but she wasn’t convincing enough. Another controversy that trailed the gossip blogger is her spat with Wizkid. Linda shared a news that Wizkid was being evicted from his Lekki home which was rented. She also revealed that Wizkid lied about owning the house and also purchasing his Porsche car outrightly. The whole drama got messy and had Wizkid throwing heavy tantrums at the blogger and she further revealed that even his Porsche car was bought on higher purchase. They both ended their beef at the Police Headquarters where they seemed to amicably settle the matter. 1. Toyin Aimakhu Actress Toyin Aimakhu is one of the top controversial celebrities of 2016. The actress and her former boyfriend, Seun Egbegbe made headlines when they were going back and forth with their relationship and throwing tantrums towards each other. Their breakup was even messier than her marital drama. Seun reportedly seized her phones at a movie location and was accused of kidnapping her too. The two later engaged in a war of words on social media and in several interviews. Another worthy mention is the controversy that engulfed from Toyin Aimakhu trying to raise money for cancer patient, Ahmed Mayowa. The actress reportedly wanted to be in charge of the financial aspect of the fun raising and it caused a spat between her family and that led to a lowkey scandal.
