6. Alicia Bromfield
Alicia Bromfield, a substitute teacher at The Crenshaw School in Gotha, Florida was arrested after engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a male student. Bromfield contacted the 16-year-old student and asked him if she could pick him up at his house and take him to her apartment. The student agreed, and once he arrived at her home, Bromfield proceeded to serve him alcohol until he was drunk. She then suggested they watch a movie in her bedroom, and that’s where the intercourse took place.
The student spent the night at Bromfield’s apartment, and she drove him back home around 5 a.m. the next morning. Teachers became suspicious of the relationship, and once they discovered intercourse had taken place, they alerted the authorities. Bromfield was arrested and charged with unlawful sex with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
5. Jason R. Lofthouse
Rancho High School teacher Jason R. Lofthouse was arrested on two counts of first-degree kidnapping and four counts of sexual acts with a student ages 16-17. Lofthouse, a geography and U.S. government teacher, engaged in sexual activity with the student in his classroom and at two hotels in Las Vegas.
32-year-old Lofthouse would pick the student up near her neighborhood, and they would check into the hotels. The student missed school a couple times to go to the hotels with Lofthouse. He was also accused of abusing previous students, as well.
In the courtroom, Lofthouse expressed remorse for his actions, and he said he made bad choices because he was “lonely,” and he felt “unwanted and unloved.” As his wife and family looked on, he was found guilty of all charges and sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison.
