Popular broadcaster, Nedu Wazobia has apologized for his remark regarding women using marriage as a strategy to fight poverty.
In a video posted to his Instagram page, Nedu chastised women, claiming that the majority of them cause guys lose interest in marriage. He declared that there is no more marital love.
He wrote: “I don’t know if you people have seen that video or the pictures or the message of that PSG footballer called Hakimi who claimed to be 24-year-old and his wife is asking for a divorce. And demand 50 per cent of his property.
“You see that marriage is dead? In fact, if people believed anything in marriage before, with what’s happening in marriage in the whole world, people wouldn’t want to get married anymore.
Most women, many of you, make some people not be interested in marriage because you have turned the thing into a poverty alleviation scheme.”
However, this had stirred backlashes from netizens which prompted him to bow to pressure and tender an unreserved apology.
He wrote: ”Sincere apologies to those hurt by my Hakimi video. It’s totally taken out of context. Regardless, I sincerely apologize. It’s you guys that’s paying my salary, so whatever doesn’t sit well with you all won’t be entertained by me. God bless you all. Love and light.”
