The House of Representatives has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s announcement regarding the removal of fuel subsidy.
Following a motion of urgent public importance moved by Abdulraheem Olajide, a member of the House, the lawmakers urged Nigerians to pray for the successful implementation of the subsidy removal.
Olajide commended President Tinubu for making the pronouncement on May 29, despite the petrol scarcity that followed.
Olajide stated that the legislature must support the President in delivering the dividends of democracy, as he campaigned for the subsidy removal and is prepared for the task ahead.
In his words:
“The legislature must support the President in delivering dividends of democracy, which will go a long way in enhancing development because he asked for it and campaigned for it. And he is ready for the task ahead.”
Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, prevented members from debating the motion, despite their requests to speak.
After the motion was presented, the House of Representatives resolved to appeal to Nigerians to remain patient, resilient, and prayerful, so that the President can fulfill his promises.
