A police constable named Wale Akinlotan, who served in the Lagos State Police Command, has tragically passed away while on duty at the Ilupeju police division.
Akinlotan, a graduate of Mass Communication from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, had enrolled in the Nigeria Police Force in 2018 and previously worked at the Lagos Police Public Relations Office as one of its media personnel.
His untimely death occurred when he was stationed at Ilupeju, where he served as the orderly to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). The exact cause of Akinlotan’s death remains unknown. However, it is worth noting that he had recently recovered from injuries sustained during a suspect’s bite.
Reportedly, Akinlotan had assisted in capturing a suspect who attempted to escape from police custody. During the apprehension, the suspect bit Akinlotan on his shoulder and fingers, causing significant injuries.
Akinlotan had shared videos of his injuries on TikTok, describing it as a “job hazard” and emphasizing the seriousness of human bites.
The late policeman has since been laid to rest at a cemetery in Lagos State.
