A man was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly raping and killing his newborn daughter, police in California said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that they arrested 30-year-old Matthew Brendan Warner of Newhall, in connection with the sexual abuse and murder of his 19-day-old daughter.

Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer said that Warner faces one count each of murder, assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
The suspect will appear before the Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. According to the felony complaint, the murder and sexual assault happened last week Friday.
Bail was set at $2.25 million. Warner faces a maximum penalty of life in state prison if convicted of all charges.
