Actually, Angela has become well known for her biographical film roles portraying real-life women. In addition to portraying Tina Turner, she has played Rosa Parks in “The Rosa Parks Story,” Voletta Wallace in Notorious,” Katherine Jackson in “The Jacksons: An American Dream,” and Betty Shabazz in “Malcolm X” and “Panther.” Bassett won a Golden Globe and earned an Academy Award nomination for her work in “What’s Love Got to Do with It.” She was the first African-American to win the Golden Globe Award in the category of Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
