2. 10 Rillington Place
John Christie was a serial killer who strangled a number of women — including his wife — inside his Notting Hill flat in London, England. Before he was caught, his neighbor, Timothy Evans, received the death penalty for the murder of his own infant daughter. Evans always proclaimed his innocence, but it wasn’t until after his death than John Christie was found guilty. This miscarriage of justice contributed heavily to the abolishment of capital punishment in the United Kingdom. In the 1971 movie 10 Rillington Place, Richard Attenborough plays the role of John Christie. While it wasn’t widely received during the time of its release, it’s developed a huge cult following over the years and is now considered a classic.
