4. John Paton Davies, Jr. – Being A Communist
John Paton Davies, Jr. was an American with an impressive resume. He was a diplomatic scholar and received the Medal of Freedom. He also worked in the Foreign Service in China, which was dismantled during the McCarthy era. He was accused of being a commie and trying to bring Communism to the United States. Davies was accused of being in the “China Lobby”, and underwent nine investigations between 1948 to 1954. However, the evidence did not show that he was disloyal to the United States. Even so, he was fired for showing a serious “lack of judgment, discretion, and reliability.”
3. Tupac Shakur – Accused of Rape
Tupac Shakur was one of the most famous rap stars in the United States. He did not have the cleanest track record, but he was accused of a crime that he did not commit. In 1993, Tupac, along with his posse, was accused of raping a woman in a hotel room. Yet the rapper was found not guilty of that crime. But wait! While he was innocent of that charge, he did get sentenced to some time in prison for committing sexual abuse. So, he was innocent of rape, but he did have a bit of dirty work that he had to pay for. Now Tupac is gone, but he still has a fan base.
