4. Reese Witherspoon – Post Ryan Phillippe
Reese Witherspoon is America’s sweetheart and continues to be, even after very public relationships and break-ups. The most famous relationship of hers was with Ryan Phillippe. The two seemed like a match made in heaven back then in Hollywood. The Sweet Home Alabama actress was on fire in 2006 when she took home the Best Actress Oscar for Walk The Line. Although her career was on a good path, her seven-year marriage to Phillippe was on the rocks. That same year she won an Oscar, the couple filed for divorce citing, “irreconcilable differences.” The year after, though, she showed up at the Golden Globes, looking better than we expected in a yellow number (above).
However, fast-forward to 2014, the actress revealed to Charlie Rose in an interview with 60 Minutes, that her ex-marriage with Phillippe was responsible for her career to go in shambles. She recognized she wasn’t succeeding as much as before at the box office saying, “I was floundering career-wise because I wasn’t making things I was passionate about, I was just kind of working.” It seems like America’s sweetheart went through a tougher post-breakup than we could have ever imagined but we must say she has been doing a good job handling her career ever since.
3. Selena Gomez – Post Bieber
Another well-known love story, besides those associated with Taylor Swift, is the one of Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. The two were your usual teenage love birds who couldn’t stop gushing about each other while dating. Both singers are big in the music scene and have recently used their careers to express their emotions post-breakup. It is safe to say that these two are not over each other. The two are always being asked about where they stand with each other and they always have sweet words to say, despite the relationship being really tough on the two young crooners. Ah your first love.
In an interview with Complex, the Biebs had revealed to the magazine that they were “so in love.” “We were all about each other. But when it’s like that and you get your value from that, people will always disappoint you. Your girl or your dude will always disappoint you. Your full identity can’t be in that person. My identity was in her. Her identity was in me.” Wise words from the “Baby” singer. As for Gomez, she also got to express her side of the story through singles like “Good For You” and “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” especially during her performance at the AMA’s in 2014. Also, in true, classy Selena style, she opened up to ELLE that she will “forever support him and love him.”
The two are always in the spotlight and constantly asked about their status. However, at the end of the day, the relationship made them grow, specifically Gomez as she keeps looking stunning individually and continues to be successful while dealing with a broken heart.
