6. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry – Stealing Dancers
It currently still is the hottest feud on the planet. But how did Taylor Swift and Katy Perry go from gushing about each other on Twitter and making a surprised duet at the Staples Center in L.A. to thoroughly hating each other?
Their friendship blossomed in 2008, but things turned sour around 2012-2013, which is around the time Katy started dating John Mayer – Taylor’s ex.
From there it turned into one hell of a fight, with Katy stealing Taylor’s dancers, who were essentially hired out from under Taylor’s nose.
Then, Taylor famously responded with her single “Bad Blood” and revealed in Rolling Stone the inspiration for that song.
“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” she said. “She would come up to me at award shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ [Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
Katy went on to compare Swift to the character of Regina George from the movie Mean Girls. And this show-stealing rift shows no signs of having a happy ending anytime soon.
