1. Kwabena Darko – Darko Farms
There is no one in Ghana who doesn’t know Darko Farms, unless the person is a 2000s born. Dr.Kwabena Darko owns the largest privately owned agro-industrial farm in Ghana. He is into poultry and his farm is called Darko Farms. From poultry birds to eggs, he dominated the industry since he was the only one doing it at that time on a large scale. He was doing well until he decided to contest the 1992 general elections. He came 4th with 2.8 per cent of the total votes cast. The election obviously had a toll on his finances and run down his farm. Things became different for the once vibrant Darko farms brand. His fowls and eggs were no longer in the market and he basically died. He’s still operating but his dominance has waned and it doesn’t look like he can come back to his former self again.
