3. Competing with the Pyramids
West believes he’s not even competing with his peers. The man’s head is so big, he’s somehow rationalized in his mind that his art is only to be judged next to the art of the greats.
And by greats he doesn’t mean great musicians like the The Rolling Stones or Elton John. He’s talking about people like Picassoand Michelangelo.
“When I think of competition, it’s like I try to create against the past. I think about Michelangelo and Picasso, you know, the pyramids,” West said about his music and his thoughts towards his competition.
So, when West makes music he feels like he’s competing with giant pyramids in other continents built centuries ago. No wonder this guy’s head is so big.
