However, as well as creating such a high level in celebrity status, the word can also have a number of negative implications. Usually referring to a woman, who has somewhat of a bad reputation among her peers and those who work underneath her, this particular lady is also known for being temperamental or extremely difficult to work with. That’s right, with a ‘diva attitude’ now a common expression amid the classy elite of Hollywood, it can be difficult to shake off such a negative and withholding image, that’s if they want to of course. But what of the male stars? With the form ‘divo’ now becoming common usage for those of the opposite sex, the term is usually used in the exact same manner. With men just as particular as their gender counterparts, if not sometimes worse, it is important and about time we highlight these divos. So, here are 12 of the biggest man divas in showbiz. 12. Will Smith Who would have thought that the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, was in fact a bit of snob, looking down on those whom he believes to be so beneath him. That’s right, while working on the Michael Mann epic Ali, in 2004, Will Smith was accused of being a bit of prima donna, with regards to his behavior on set. In fact, actor and comedian Paul Rodriguez, who played Dr. Ferdie Pacheco in the movie, claimed that Smith was an “A-hole”, and even went on to suggest that Smith was taking steroids in order to build up his physique as the famous boxer. And that’s not all, with rumors that Smith is an egotistical nightmare, a number of other stars among the Hollywood elite have also backed up Rodriquez’ claims, citing that he somewhat refuses to play second fiddle to other actors, insisting on always playing the lead in movies. Giving off an ‘it’s all about the money’ kind of vibe, it can sometimes be difficult to give Smith that credibility as an actor that he seems to crave so much. 11. Scott Disick Known for his once high-profile relationship with Kourtney Kardashian, the eldest of the Kardashian clan, the pair split in 2015, with Kardashian seemingly fed up with his alcohol problem. In and out of rehab, Scott Disick has three children with the famous family member, however it still doesn’t seem to stop him acting like a complete idiot. Famed for his lavish lifestyle, Disick has often been photographed flashing his wealth, with a number of cars and even a helicopter to his name. Also famous for his unique sense of style, Disick has a fashion sense that seems caught between showing off and thrusting his money in your face, which in itself is strange seeing as he doesn’t seem to have a job. In fact, Disick is so full of himself, that on a trip to London he somehow managed to buy himself a lordship, resulting in him referring to himself as Lord Disick. What a guy! 10. Jay-Z One half of one of the greatest power couples in Hollywood, Jay-Z is also one of the biggest prima donnas in showbiz. Seemingly outdoing his wife, Beyoncé, in the diva department, which in itself his quite difficult, Jaz-Z’s hotel demands are as shocking as they are hilarious. With reports from a variety of hotels stating that the rapper had asked for his room to be at exactly 71 degrees Fahrenheit as well as having three Mayan tuberose-scented candles on display, the requests seem to only get more ridiculous. In fact, one hotel even claimed that staff members were told not to vacuum near his room, nor clean around the outside. Plus, if staff are lucky enough to come into contact with him, they had better not ask for concert tickets, with this being a big no-no when it comes to making Jay-Z and his team happy. Oh, how the other half lives. 9. Steven Tyler Famed for being the lead singer of rock group Aerosmith, Steven Tyler is also known for being Liv Tyler‘s dad. With rock singers known for displaying a number of queen bee-like qualities, Tyler is seemingly no different, with a number of stories and tales under his belt for diva-ish demands. Speaking candidly about his heavy drug use during his rock star days, Tyler admitted to using his high profile as a means to get drugs. Requesting a large mirror be brought into his hotel rooms, Tyler claimed, “I would take the local promoter’s rep into the dressing room, and he’d say, ‘Well, there’s the 6-foot mirror you requested, Steven.’ And I’d say, ‘I can see the mirror all right, but where the f**k’s the 3-foot razor blade?”. Cementing himself as the ultimate rock star diva, Tyler continued his prima donna ways during his stint on American Idol in which he was one of the judges. Known for having a seven-room bungalow as a dressing room, the bungalow also housed a crystal chandelier, of course. 8. Adam Lambert Shooting to fame as the runner up on the eighth season of American Idol, Adam Lambert even went on to win a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Male Pop Vocal Performance’, yes that’s a thing apparently. Doing reasonably well as a solo artist, Lambert then joined forces with legendary rock group, Queen, taking the role of front man and lead vocalist, Freddie must be spinning in his grave. Known on the circuit for this diva-like requests, Lambert has been known to request expensive high-priced tequila and local honey, great combination. Insisting that he isn’t the prima donna that the papers make him out to be, Lambert later claimed that “a diva is just somebody that’s demanding. A little crazy. Not in touch with reality. Famed for his extravagant lifestyle, it was once reported that Cruise demanded a hotel kick out all of their guests, just so he could dine in peace. In fact, some of Cruise’s alleged ridiculous requests are so enormously insane, that it seems Cruise could be suffering from a sort of ‘small man syndrome’ in making such gigantic demands. And, if that’s not enough, Cruise’s demands seemed to have rubbed off on his youngest daughter, with reports claiming that little Suri Cruise has often been accustomed to demanding cupcakes on a golden platter in the middle of the night. 6. Simon Cowell British born Simon Cowell is also a massive diva, no surprise there. Often revealing the ins and outs of superstar diva demands with whom he has worked with, Cowell seems oblivious to his own prima donna nature. Known for his no bull sh*t attitude on The X Factor and American Idol, television’s most famous judge has often gotten himself in hot water with regards to his excessive demands. Famed for holding up the other judges on his numerous talent shows, it has been reported that Cowell would often have mid-afternoon baths and long naps. Accused of being constantly late, it was also said that Cowell had demanded better lights to be shone underneath him while on camera, with his co-stars having to make do with regular lighting. In fact, Cowell’s need to look the best has gotten so bad, that he now has his very own makeup artist, who only works with him and nobody else, with a source claiming, “the other judges don’t get this kind of attention and it’s all part of making sure Simon is the undisputed star of the show.” 5. Christian Bale Shooting to fame at only 13 years old, Christian Bale went on to a successful and prominent career. Famed for his use of method acting, Bale has often been cited as one of the greatest actors of all time, especially in the way he portrayed superhero, Batman. However, although critically acclaimed, Bale has also garnered a bad reputation, most prominently when it comes to backstage demands and relationships with other actors. Known for his bad temper and overall angry attitude, Bale was recorded in a four-minute video in which he swore over 40 times. Enraged that one of the lighting crew from the set had walked into his vision while trying to act out a scene, Bale screamed that he would only continue unless the man in question was fired. And, it’s not just the lighting guys that get a mouthful, with a number of other directors, actors, and producers all having experienced the wrath of Christian Bale. 4. Russell Crowe Originally hailing from the far away land of Australia, Russell Crowe is most famous for his turn as the gladiator in the movie of the same name. Rumored to be one hell of a diva when it comes to working on set, Crowe also has a bit of a Bale-like reputation with regards to his relationship with other actors. Not as clean-cut as he would like to make himself out to be, Crowe is seemingly afraid of nobody, with even famous directors feeling his all mighty wrath. That’s right, with reports that Crowe and legendary director Ridley Scott were at loggerheads after disagreeing on the set of Robin Hood, a whole bunch of stories began to surface. With Crowe unhappy with the amount of screen time he had been given, he demanded that the script be immediately rewritten. Pissing off Scott even more, it was then claimed that Crowe had requested a helicopter to fly him to set every morning, refusing to relocate closer to where the movie was being filmed. 3. Elton John No surprise here. One of the biggest divas in showbiz and probably one of the only ones to admit it, Elton John has been making us laugh with his outrageous demands since day one. In fact, John need not admit it all, with proof right there on camera with the now notorious documentary Tantrums and Tiaras. That’s right, filmed by his now husband David Furnish, the movie follows John during his 1995 Made in England tour. Documenting his various gigs and showbiz lifestyle, the film also records a number of John’s now famed tantrums. From screaming at a fan who waved at him during a tennis match, to shouting at his assistants, John vowed to change his ways after watching his behavior on screen. However, seemingly ignoring his own advice, John seems worse than ever, with a recent request for a separate hotel room to accommodate his selection of glasses. 2. Kanye West Somehow managing to outdo his prima donna wife Kim Kardashian, Kanye West is by far one of the biggest diva’s in showbiz, if not the entire world. With an ego so big it would be impossible to measure, West obviously believes himself to be some kind of god, sent down to influence us with his talent. In fact, with his ex-bodyguard recently letting slip the ins and outs of West’s demands, it seems that West is even worse than previously thought. Lasting a measly two weeks on the job, bodyguard Steve Stanulis revealed that staff was obliged to only ever wear black due to patterns being “distracting”. From not pressing the button in the elevator, to not being able to speak in his presence, Stanulis also claimed that they were advised not to look or talk to his wife. In fact, things got so bad that Stanulis admitted, “I’ve been employed by a lot of high-end people but I’ve never worked for someone like him. He’s ten times worse than what you see, you just never knew what would trigger a meltdown.” 1. Justin Bieber Everybody’s favorite stroppy adolescent, Justin Bieber is also the number one diva in showbiz, displaying a long list of prima donna demands. From attempts to ban other musicians’ work to punching his own fans in the face, Bieber most definitely deserves the diva crown, even giving the queen bee herself, Mariah Carey, a run for her money.
