A 32-year-old man, Uche George, has been arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on charges of theft and assault.
The accused was alleged to have beaten one Ajayi Kolawole and stolen his Infinix phone worth N80,000 in the Ijigbo area of Ado Ekiti on May 4.
According to Inspector Celeb Leramo, the police prosecutor, “the defendant did assault one Ajayi Kolawole, by beating him all over his body with blows.
Also, the defendant did steal an Infinix Hot 12i valued at N80,000 property of Kolawole. The offences committed are punishable under Sections 185 and 302 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.”
During the court proceedings on Wednesday, Counsel for the defendant, Luke Mbam, requested that the court grant his client bail in liberal terms and promised to provide a credible surety.
In response, the Chief Magistrate, Saka Afunso, granted the accused bail in the sum of N25,000 with one surety and adjourned the case to June 29 for hearing.
