Emekeme Joseph, also known as Semikolo, a well-known hotelier, died after being beaten to death by his sons in Delta State.
The incident occurred when the sons, who had just graduated from a prestigious Ota high school, discovered their father’s alleged infidelity. They demanded a million naira bribe and threatened to inform their mother, who was on vacation in the US at the time.
Despite their threats, the father refused to comply and called their bluff. Consequently, the sons informed their mother about the affair, which greatly angered her.
The following day, the father visited his wife’s workplace, and upon spotting him, the sons confronted and forcibly expelled him from the premises.
According to insiders, the father returned home in anger and confiscated his sons’ car keys, provoking their fury. They physically attacked him, inflicting blows and kicks, and even injured a police officer when the father called for assistance.
Subsequently, the sons were apprehended by the authorities, while the father was rushed to the hospital. As his condition rapidly deteriorated, he was transferred to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where he fought to survive.
In a surprising turn of events, the wife hastily returned to the country and managed to secure the release of her sons from police custody. Against medical advice, she discharged her comatose husband from UBTH and brought him back home in Ugbeyiyi, where he tragically passed away.
Disturbingly, when Joseph’s friends reached out to his wife, she deceitfully claimed they were in Lagos.
Following the incident, it has been observed that Joseph’s wife changed her name on all her social media accounts, reverting to her maiden name and omitting her husband’s name.
