Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, better known as Spyro, has revealed that he took a loan from the bank to finance his song with music stars Davido and Mayorkun.
The fast-rising artiste featured the DMW label boss and Mayorkun on a song titled ‘Funke’ in 2018, but the song was not commercially successful.
The ‘Who’s your guy’ hitmaker stated this during a recent interview with Cool FM that he struggled for three years to pay back the debt.
The singer said that while the much hyped collaboration thrust him into the public eye, he fell off after the song could not sustain its initial momentum.
“When I dropped ‘Funke’ and the song popped. I had David [Davido], I had Mayorkun on the song. And after dropping ‘Funke’ and my career still went down, I’m like, ‘Oh! Am I ever gonna rise again?’
I popped but I just came down because there was no structure. There was nothing. I took a loan from the bank to finance that particular record while I was still signed to Upfront & Personal. When that period passed, I now had to start paying for the loan. That was really difficult because I paid for like three years,” he said.
