The Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja was filled with dramatic scenes earlier today, May 17, as a new twist unfolded with the Labour Party factional leader, Lamidi Apapa, being booed out of the court premises.
Earlier reports had indicated that Apapa and members of his faction engaged in a dispute over seats reserved for Labour Party officials in the courtroom. Tensions escalated and a shouting match ensued when Apapa attempted to claim the seats.
The situation was eventually brought under control when Josephine Ekperobe, the Secretary of the Presidential Election Court, intervened. Apapa was subsequently directed by a judge to sit elsewhere, and his presence in the court was closely monitored.
Shortly thereafter, the petition filed by the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against the 2023 election and President-Elect Bola Tinubu was adjourned due to the failure of the parties involved to reach an agreement.
However, amidst the adjournment, chaos erupted as shouts of “Ole,” a Yoruba word meaning “thief,” filled the air and disrupted an interview. Apapa swiftly made his way out of the court, shielded by policemen, as he struggled to reach his parked car.
