A suspected terrorist in Kaduna Millennium City reportedly took his own life using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while attempting to evade arrest. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday on Ibrahim Haske Road, Keke community.
Authorities from the Department of State Services (DSS), accompanied by soldiers and police officers, converged on the suspect’s residence, prompting an exchange of gunfire. Realizing he was surrounded, the suspect resorted to detonating explosives, resulting in his demise.
According to a reliable security source, an AK-47 rifle was discovered inside the house, alongside two other IEDs, which were promptly defused by the Anti-bomb squad. Tragically, the suspect’s body was severely mutilated due to the explosion. Meanwhile, the suspect’s wife and children were apprehended by DSS officials, who transported them away from the scene.
Malam Samaila, a community leader, confirmed the incident and revealed that the security operatives had cordoned off the street, preventing anyone from approaching the suspect’s house. He speculated that the authorities likely tracked the suspect to his residence in an attempt to effect an arrest.
The joint operation involving the DSS, police, and soldiers unfolded as Hilux trucks, Jeeps, and ambulances descended upon the community.
