6. Kanye West
The drama that has lasted years between Kanye West and Swift is still not over to this day. It all started in 2009 at the VMAs when she won an award for her music video for “You Belong With Me.” At the time, Swift was still just a budding star, someone you couldn’t ever imagine hurting.
Well, West did just that. While the new star was accepting her award, West stormed the stage to protest her win. “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, Imma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best music videos of all time, one of the best music videos of all time,” is a quote that will go down in history. West was sticking up for legend Beyonce, who was also nominated for the same award and was forecasted by many to win. Their relationship was touch and go for quite some time, and West said he’d like to apologize to her in person. As time passed, Swift joked about the incident during a stint on SNL – so it seemed she moved past it.
At the 2010 VMAs, Swift performed her song “Innocent,” which was about West and the situation that happened between them. At the 2015 Grammys, the pair shocked the entire world by taking photos together, hugging and shaking hands. They explained that they were friends, and there was even rumors about them collaborating together for a future song.
West even sent Swift flowers at one point, which thickened the story of their friendship even more. That’s where it all ended, though. In West’s song “Famous”, he presents a degrading line about Swift which she claims she never approved. West claims that this is a lie and further ruins their relationship by explaining that she messed up her chance to be cool. In the music video for “Famous” Swift is represented by a naked wax figure of herself, which obviously she isn’t cool with. So, you can say that the two still aren’t friends.
