This is a major throw back. It’s not even Thursday yet, but we found it compulsory to publish this price of information about the first primary school in Nothern, Nigeria. Bishiop Crowther LGA Primary School, is the first in Northern Nigeria and it was founded in 1865 in Lokoja, the present-day Kogi state. The school was founded by the Anglican missionary.
The school represented the beginnings of “Boko”, learning and English literacy North of the Niger.
Kogi State capital, Lokoja, no doubt was the headquarters of the north during the colonial era as evident in the structures abound in the state. The first primary school in the northern Nigeria, the Bishop Crowther LGA Primary School, Lokoja is one of such colonial structures in the state. Like the others, this school has been abandoned and almost becoming nonexistent.
