7. Dija – Awww
Done on one of Don Jazzy’s best ever beats, Dija completely captured Nigeria with the absolutely wonderful alternative love song proving to many that she’s an artists with different dimensions. A far cry from the tinini-tanana lines, Awww is lyrically solid, and dare we say it, pretty deep. Everything come together like a perfect storm, and it turned out to be one of the stand out songs of 2015, even if it was officially released late in 2014. The numerous covers to the song is just more proof that this was a very well musically composed song.
6. Falz – Karashika
One of the lead singles of the best hip-hop album of the year (Stories That Touch), is arguably the best hip-hop song of the year. Karashika embodies everything Falz was about in 2015. Witty, funny, lyrically innovative, engaging, and musically captivating. Karashika featured some of Falz best put together barz so much so that you can bet many Nigerian hip-hop fans recite that whole first verse in their sleep. Borrowing the talents of Phyno and Chigul helped sell the song even more, even though we know Falz could’ve done it on his own. Production by Sess, and the quality were all also top notch. A+.
