Yemi Alade Eberechi, known just as Yemi Alade, is a Nigerian Afro pop singer and believe us when we say she is the rising star of not just Nigeria, but the African continent as a whole. On a mission to take over the continent, “Mama Africa” has consistently pushed out enjoyable music, travelled round the continent, and received multiple awards for it. 1. She is Yoruba but was born in the east Ever wondered why Yemi Alade sang parts of some of her songs in Igbo language, or why she says eastern slangs like “Ayakata”? Well, it is no fluke. Yemi Alade was born to a Yoruba father and an Igbo mother, hence the subtle confusion. More so, she was born in Abia State and she stayed there for some time. She is fondly referred to as a “Yoruba-Igbo girl”, and this is one of those simple things that makes her stand out.
