The war against terrorism continues in Borno State, as Nigerian Army repelled a massive Boko Haram attack on Bama hours ago. According to SaharaReporters, the terrorists targeted Bama, which is a strategic city with the population of about 500,000 people.

The insurgents intend to seize the city in order to expand the so-called ‘Caliphate’ with the centre in Gwoza town, declared by Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau in a recent video message.

“As I am talking to you (9.30am), the war is ongoing and it will be difficult to describe the level of destruction,” Tijjani Bukar, a driver who escaped to Maiduguri, told a reporter of DailyTrust.
Nevertheless, the attack caused panic and numerous residents, including the Emir of Bama are fleeing to the capital of Borno State. They have to make a 40-mile-long (64 km) extremely dangerous journey by A4 road before they reach more or less secure area.
