5. Lowers kidney stone risk
Beer has been linked with a lower risk of developing kidney stones compared to other alcoholic beverages. Researchers hypothesize that this is due to beer’s higher water content and diuretic effects. “Compounds in hops may also slow the release of calcium from bone that is implicated in kidney stones,” said registered dietitian and ADA spokesperson Andrea Giancoli in a news release.
