Former Romanian striker Adrian Mutu was hailed as one of the most promising players in the early 2000s, and his career took off when he signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2003. Mutu had a decent first season, but his second season saw him at odds with Chelsea’s new manager Jose Mourinho. To make matters worse, in September 2004 the Romanian striker failed a drug tust for cocaine. He was banned for six-months. Mutu failed another drug test in 2010.
