8. Dead Birds
On the Pacific coast, thousands of birds have begun to wash up on shore, and no one knows why. Normally, small numbers of birds wash ashore as they die in storms and harsh weather conditions, but deaths in this number is an unprecedented occurrence.
The birds had shown up all the way from Oregon to southern California, prompting scientists to attempt to look into the situation and try to uncover what is causing it. Even more strange is the fact that the birds are not always of the same species. In fact, four distinct species have shown up en masse, washing ashore in flocks.
One explanation is the lack of food for new flocks as they get older. Less food equals more death. Another suggestion is climate change, and this is by far the most evidenced theory so far.
