4. King Louis XIV Of France
Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King, was the King of France and King of Navarre until his death. He was a king for 72 years. This was the longest recorded reign of any European monarch and, of course, he was one of the richest. The great French writer Voltaire used the title “Age of Louis XIV” to describe the king’s enormous wealth and the power he had amassed in the King’s service. Long considered the epitome of all that is stylish, glamorous, and desirable, Louis’ Paris was rich in lavish boutiques, restaurants, wine cellars, and more endless treasures. King Louis had the richest fashions; china, perfumes, jewels and one could imagine even more.
3. Alexander the Great
Historians claim that the great king, Alexander the Great, once granted one of his kinsmen a lavish palace worth an estimated $650 million. Alexander the Great had a 30-year reign. Alexander the Great was so wealthy that he once gained over 1100 tons of gold and that wasn’t in a 30-year reign- that was from just one city!
Alexander once said: “My first wish is scatter the gold, silver, and gems from my treasure-house along the path to the tomb when you ship my coffin to the grave. My second wish is to tell people not to be like me in pursuing wealth. I spent my whole life pursuing wealth, but I was wasting my time most of the time. My third wish to let people understand that I came to this world in empty hands and I will leave this world also in empty hands.”
