Bolanle Ninalowo, a Nigerian actor, has praised the EFCC for apprehending his impersonator.
Omoghan Destiny Igbinosa, a young man, was sentenced to two years in prison with the option of a N1 million fine by a Federal High Court in Warri for impersonating Nollywood star Bolanle Ninalowo.
Bolanle Ninalowo, a popular Nigerian actor, reacted to the news on social media after a man who had been impersonating him since 2021 was arrested and convicted. Ninalowo himself praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for apprehending his impersonator.
Bolanle Ninalowo is one of the most popular actors in Nigeria’s film industry, and it’s no surprise that someone would try to impersonate him.
However, it’s reassuring to see that the EFCC took swift action to arrest and prosecute the culprit.
The case was tried before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. In his ruling, Justice Nwite stated that Igbinosa was found guilty of the charges against him and was sentenced to two years in prison with an option of a fine of N1 million.
This judgment sends a clear message that impersonation and fraud are not tolerated in Nigeria and that the justice system will take swift action against those who engage in such activities.
Nigerians took to social media to express their opinions on the matter, with many commending the EFCC for its efforts in bringing the impersonator to justice.
Ninalowo himself also spoke out, commending the EFCC for capturing the impersonator and expressing his gratitude to his fans and well-wishers for their support.
“End of the road for these bunch! Thanks @officialefcc”, he wrote.
