Renowned Nigerian Youtuber, Emdee Tiamiyu, has shared his perspective on the consequences of being authentic, stating that it can be hurtful to others.
In a recent interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Tiamiyu discussed the motivations of Nigerian students seeking admission to schools in the United Kingdom. He suggested that many individuals were not primarily driven by the desire for new qualifications but rather saw it as an opportunity to start a new life abroad.
Following the viral spread of his interview video, Tiamiyu engaged in a conversation with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, known as Daddy Freeze, on Tuesday night. During the interview, he acknowledged that he might need to strike a balance between being real and diplomatic in his communication.
In the video that gained widespread attention, Tiamiyu expressed his belief that a significant number of those applying for education in the United Kingdom viewed it as an alternate means of escaping Nigeria.
Responding to criticism regarding his BBC interview, he recounted, “The BBC man asked me yesterday, ‘If it is part-time for you, what if you do it full time?’ and I am like, I am not ready for full time.”
He continued, “There is a future. I know that there are still many opportunities to do more great things. And I don’t know, I would have to find a balance between being real and being diplomatic. Because if you want to be real, you will offend people.”
