Ayra Starr, a passionate Nigerian singer, has revealed that she spoke on the phone with American-Trinidadian hip-hop star Nicki Minaj and told her that she has a significant impact on her life.
The ‘Bloody Samaritan’ crooner whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, made this known in an article on latest edition of Teen Vogue.
The 21-year-old said she grew up listening to Nicki Minaj, and she informed the ‘Anaconda’ hit-maker that she made her confident enough to challenge her teachers.
Ayra Starr said it felt surreal speaking with the rapper, adding that she doesn’t understand how much she loves her. The singer also said her noted that her record deal with Mavin Records is a big deal.
She said; “It just feels so surreal. I was on a call with Nicki Minaj…. She doesn’t understand how much I love her. I grew up listening to her. I was like, ‘You made me feel confident. Because of you, I could tell my teachers no!”
“Being signed to Mavin was definitely one of the best things to happen to me as an artiste,” Ayra added.
