05. Sydney Leroux – $60,000
Sydney Leroux was originally pursued in baseball like her parents. Finally she found herself enjoying soccer more when she attended Johnston Heights Secondary School. This led to her living with host families in the United States in order to be able to compete with the United States women’s national soccer team. Sydney quickly became a crucial part of the time and her achievements for the school peaked in her senior year. And now with an estimated $60,000 salary per year she stands at number five of most paid female soccer players in America 2015.
Sydney’s professional career technically started with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2005. She was only fifteen years old at that time. Her ability to score the game winning goal against the Santa Clarita Blue Heat in the Western Conference Final made her the 2011 W-League Rookie of the Year. She was then accepted to play for the Atlanta Beat and Seattle Sounders Women teams in 2012. And successfully joined the most renowned Boston Breakers in 2013.
On the international soccer arena, Sydney’s decision to change her allegiance from Canada to the United States drew a lot of criticism from Canadian fans. But this didn’t stop her from helping the female soccer with extraordinary talent and performance.
