Actor Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, and has since become a champion for the disease, even creating a foundation to support Parkinson’s related research. Fox told Good Housekeeping magazine that, for those facing Parkinson’s Disease, “I would say look at the choices you have, as opposed to the choices that have been taken away from you. Because in those choices, there are whole worlds of strength and new ways to look at things.”

What is Parkinson’s Disease? Parkinson’s disease is a progressive degenerative disorder of the neurological system. Parkinson’s Disease affects 1 in 100 people over age 60, according to the Michael J Fox Foundation. Although there is no cure for Parkinson’s yet, advances in treatment have improved the lifespan and quality of life for those living with Parkinson’s Disease.
