In response the commissioner of the NFL,Roger Goodell, beefed up the domestic violence policy for all staff. On September 12 th , Rice was given an indefinite suspension. Goodell told the NFLPA that it was for providing them with a different account of that night than what could be seen on the tape, but really it was because he had already been punished for beating her. 5.
