Moon covered in blood: According to Joel 2:31, “The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood, before the great and awesome day”, this Bible text has become the basis for which some minority Christian group has claimed that the world will end this September. The claim follows the fact that a blood-moon arrives on Monday, September 28.

According to the The Telegraph, a Christian group believes that on September 28, the latest “blood moon” will bring a massive world-ending meteor strike.
The fourth blood-moon it will be, since April 15, 2014. Scientists describe the phenomenon as a passing of the moon into the Earth’s shadow. When the Earth moves between the sun and the moon, then the moon takes on a reddish hue.
Some religious groups believe that it is no coincidence that this eclipse is coming at this time, they draw an inference from the warnings which Jesus gave as pointers to his return and the alleged imminent destruction of the Earth.
To some American Christians, the tetrad of lunar eclipses, i.e. four consecutive eclipses at six monthly intervals, is an omen.
In his book, “Four Blood Moons”, a US pastor, John Hagee, foretold the disaster.
The prophetic book, which was the America’s ninth best-selling paperback in March last year, contains views by Hagee and Mark Blitz, and the most prominent opinion in the book is that the blood moons herald the end of the world and the second coming.
They base their claim on passages of the Bible, like act 2:20 that read: “The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.”
Chris McCann and the eBible Fellowship categorically state that the world will end come Wednesday, October 7.
In defense of his wrong earlier prediction he said that there was a deadline for seeking salvation, while the latter date was the end of God’s complete 10,000 days of judgment.
Meanwhile, in their bid to put the words mind at rest, NASA has issued a statement that it has not detected anything headed towards the Earth, adding that if there was an imminent threat, then their highly sensitive monitoring equipment would have spotted it.
A spokesman of the agency said: “NASA knows of no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth, so the probability of a major collision is quite small.
“In fact, as best as we can tell, no large object is likely to strike the Earth any time in the next several hundred years.”
However, he added that if the world survives the blood moons, it may only be a very brief temporary reprieve.
This is not the first time claims have been made regarding the end of the world. However, such predictions over the years have failed and those who predicted had to come up with excuses regarding their misinterpretations.
